Being in India for our big traditional wedding, we wanted to head for our honeymoon somewhere closely and Maldives seemed a perfect choice. Unrivalled luxury, stunning white-sand beaches and an amazing underwater treasure world make the Maldives an obvious choice for a true holiday of a lifetime.
Travel
We were lucky to get some cheap tickets for a direct flight from Chennai to Male. After arriving at Male airport we were really amazed to see that every single island resort has a counter in the airport. After reporting to the counter, we were escorted to our speed boat. After a joyride of 30mins we arrived in Adaaran Prestige Ocean villa which would be our humble abode for next five days.
Accommodation
We wanted something extraordinary for our honeymoon and unwinding ourselves in a over water villa was definitely in the bucket list. We booked our holiday via booking.com for 5 nights all inclusive package in ocean villa at Adaaran Prestige Ocean villa. It was indeed a paradise on earth. From personal butlers to direct ocean access stairways, from crystal clear cyan waters to whiter-than-white powder sand beaches; name it and it had it all.
Bear in mind, every resort in Maldives has its own private island so throughout your holiday you are pretty much encaged in your own island. But trust me there is so much to do in the island that you would never be bored. I preferred to do nothing but chill by the ocean and enjoy the salt in the air. The island has an intriguing mix of landscape worth exploring.
Underwater world
As our resort was located by the reef, it was rich in underwater flora and fauna. Maldives is famous for some of the best snorkelling and diving spots. We rented snorkelling gears for USD 10 per day which was pretty reasonable and trust me the clear waters was a magnet for anyone with an interest in marine life.
Dazzling water corals, schools of colourful tiny fish, reef sharks and turtles to name a few. My husband loves to explore the deeper waters and he was lucky to spot a giant manta ray. And the best bit is you can swim in your bikini as the water is pretty warm. If you are into water sports , most of the resorts offer a lot of adrenaline gushing activities to offer such as wakeboarding, parasailing, jetskiing, surfing etc.
Indulgent spas
Maldives is synonymous with pure indulgence and epitome of luxury. We decided to pamper ourselves with a 3 hours couple spa session comprising of massage, facial, foot bath, jacucuzzi and body wrap which was truly rejuvenating for the body and mind. It was a mesmerising experience to get a massage while relaxing to the sounds of the waves.
A sun kissed beach destination, Maldives is definitely a haven for honeymooners far away from the madding crowd and perfect for all those who need a good dosage of vitamin Sea.
