Phuket-phillic

With jetstar selling off cheap air tickets on its Friday frenzy deal, my boyfriend texted me while I was at work “wanna go for a short weekend getaway to phuket” and my reply within seconds without any further thoughts was “yessssss”. And so we booked our flights and reserved room at a newly built resort and waited with butterflies in our stomach for the  D day.

sun, sea sand and mojito

And finally it was our time to cut off from our stressful work life and chill amidst the blue water and sandy beaches of phuket. After a flight of 1.5 hours and a long immigration queue we finally got ourselves a cheap bargained taxi and headed to our haven for the weekend – u zenmaya resort, Kamala beach. Upon arrival at the lobby I was taken aback with it’s beautiful interiors and modern architecture. We were greeted in traditional Thai hospitable way and escorted to our rooms. The room was a perfect wowexperience. Huge magnificent rooms with a balcony overlooking the beach equipped with a spa bath and a room so clean and spacious. We also got the option to choose our pillow type and soap type. We were confirmed that our happiness and joy is intact for these coming two days. The resort had a couple of restaurants and bars all located by the sea side each with a different touch. We had a couple of cocktails and dinner. The breakfast had a huge buffet  of sausages, cold cuts and fresh juice, breads, hot beverages, cereals, desserts , cheese to choose from. We enjoyed a long breakfast and ate until our stomach said a no.Daytime we chilled by the infinity pool side with a breath taking view of the blue waters and the distant patong beach. The waves were pretty high and sound of the oceans were bliss to our ears. We chilled ourselves from the scorching sun with mojitos and Mai Thai. A dip in the pool from time to time was necessary to keep off the heat. We took a walk downhill from the hotel to discover a small open air beach restaurant with bean bags by the rocky beachside . My boyfriend decided to grab  a chilled beer and enjoy the ocean waves while I went looking for some stones and corals for my diy back home. No sooner it started to pour and we had to rush upstairs to our room.

Evenings were spent at patong. How can a visit to phuket end without a delicious seafood fare at the patong roadside restaurants. We savored ourselves with squid, shrimps and snappers from steamed to fried. After gorging like a glutton we decided to take a long walk by the beach before we pamper ourselves with a traditional Thai massage. The massage was so rejuvenating that I couldn’t stop praising my boyfriend for this little discovery of his massage parlor!!! It is worth a visit.

To spice up our night, we took a walk along the Bangla road – the heart of Phuket nightlife for our last drinks. The aura of Bangla road is always so unique. Narrow strip of lane lined with bars and restaurants on both sides and packed with Countless travelers, friendly and scantily clad bar girls calling out for a drink or two to every passers by, touts trying to convince everyone for the ping pong show and various other services provided by myriad of clubs, vendors trying to sell random accessories and party props, drunken backpackers and blaring dance music which all together creates a magical vibe which cannot be replicated. It is always worth checking out. For me it has always been an amusement than an experience.

Having returned to our resort we decided to spoil ourselves more with the awesome whirlpool spabath.the bubbles, jets and the chromatherapy made the entire jacuzzi experience better.

After spending two days in the awesome resort which in short was a little paradise , enjoying some mouth watering Thai food, soaking up in the Bangla vibe and of course refreshing ourselves with the massage it was time to bid goodbye to our most beloved Phuket with a promise to return very soon.Phuket you have never disappointed me and it’s always a pleasure seeing u !!!
